Abseil (rap, rappel): To descend a rope in a controlled manner.
Abseil station (rap station, rappel station): A convenient point from which to abseil. (Usually with fixed anchors.)
Aid: A type of climbing in which the climber uses gear for physical assistance.
Anchor: A piece of protection forming part of a belay or abseil station.
Arete: Near-vertical, sharp-edged ridge.
Arm-bar: A technique by which you wedge your arm in a crack with your hand on one side and your elbow or shoulder on the other.
