By Ross Taylor
Once I subdued my AR editorial compulsions, I enjoyed this book. For all but the most elite it offers a wealth of practical, insightful climbing knowledge. It is not your usual training guide with specific exercises, but rather an overview of climbing and training. MacLeod has an incredible depth of knowledge when it comes to climbing performance and reading his book you can begin to understand his own elite status, as he sees very clearly the factors limiting performance. The book is pretty basic to look at, with no pictures, but it covers a very wide range of subjects. As someone who has been training for a long time with a very piecemeal approach, I found this book inspiring.
